Kahuna Nui Leimomi Mo'okini Lum
Leimomi Mo'okini Lum was chosen by Kahuna Nui Heloke Mo'okini and was to follow her Father Kahuna Nui Dewey O. Mo'okini. She has been the Kahuna Nui since 1977. In 1978 she started Children's Day. Alexa Lum, her daughter, has been chosen to be her successor.
Mo'okini Luakini Heiau
The Mo'okini Heiau is a very sacred place. It was reserved for the Kings ( Aliʻi), and Priests (Kahuna) only. Our line is from both the Kapu Aliʻi and the Kapu Kahuna. We are the keepers of this very sacred place.
Kamehameha Birthplace
Kamehameha the Great was born at the waters edge, at Kokoiki, 1,000 yards from the Mo'okini Heiau. He was brought up to the Heiau where he received his birth rituals. Then he was quickly swept off to Awini.

The Mo'okini Heiau was built in 480 A.D. under the direction of High Priest Kuamo'o Mo'okini. The temple was built in one night as the Po'e Li'ili'i passed pohaku hand to hand in a single line from Pololu Valley to where Mo'okini Heiau sits today. The temple was dedicated to the god Kuka'ilimoku (Ku) and it was a Luakini (sacrificial temp

This is where they would fast, pray, and hold ceremony.

Our non-profit, 501 c 3, was foundation was founded in 1979. We have been hosting the Children of Hawaii Island in November since 1978. We welcome schools from all Island, including the mainland, all year long.

Our vision is to give our Children a place to come, to feel of the past and see this magnificent structure that was built 1500 plus years ago. They need to know that this sacred place is still here and now is the time to create a future that is pa'a (steadfast) for generations to come. This is our kuleana (responsibility) as a people!
