Welina mai

Mo’okini Heiau was built in the year 480 AD in Pu’uepa North Kohala. Under the direction of Kuamo’o O Mo’okini. The rocks were handed man to man, hand to hand, from sunset to sunrise in one night! 

The history comes from the Mo’okini family oral history. There has always been a Mo’okini chosen as Kahuna Nui to carry on the stories and care of the Heiau.

In the year 1,000AD Pa’ao asked to house his God at Mo’okini. Pa’ao brought human sacrifice and altered parts of the Heiau. Mookini was there through all of the change.

In 1758, approximately  1,000yds from Mo’okini,  Kamehameha the Great was born. All of the signs of this prophesied one were there.
